Liz Haney walks through the nuts and bolts of the Haney Test and how to apply the test results in our region. Liz will give her perspective on some of the questions that we’ve heard most frequently from our cooperators:

·         What is the Haney Test? How is it different from other soil tests?

·         How do you take a Haney Test? What’s the timing of sampling related to manure and nutrient inputs, cover crops, etc.

·         What metrics are relevant for our course-textured soils?

·         My organic matter isn’t increasing. Does it matter?

·         Is it possible to ever achieve “good” soil health in sandy soils?

·         How do you know the right N rate to apply when it’s such a challenge to pin down an optimum nitrogen rate?

·         Is it possible to have a phosphorus deficiency in high soil test P soils? What can you do to make P more available?

·         Liz will walk us through the test results of (3? 4? 5?) Sussex County farmers that collected Regen Ag Lab Certified tests on their fields to learn how to interpret and apply the results.
